Light that unites: Peace Light of Bethlehem at "I'Mariupol" centres

On Christmas Eve, Plast scouts visited "I'Mariupol" centres in Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk. They brought with them the Peace Light of Bethlehem as a symbol of hope, warmth and unity.

Every year, the Light of Bethlehem is lit in the city where Jesus Christ was born and it is then passed from hand to hand around the world. It is a tradition that unites people around the values of peace, kindness and mutual support, which are especially important in times of hardship.

Everyone had the opportunity to get a candle lit with this blessed light and carry its warmth home with them. For the people of Mariupol, this flame became a sign of light overcoming darkness and of faith in a peaceful future for Ukraine.

"Plast members bring this flame to every home to bring light for the Christmas holidays and the coming year. And today we bring this fire to you so that it may warm everyone, so that light may overcome darkness and bring peace to our country," says Anna Didyk, Head of Membership at the Plast Office in Lviv.

The Peace Light of Bethlehem at the "I'Mariupol" centres is yet another reminder of the power of community, tradition and hope that lives in the hearts of Ukrainians.
