International cooperation for Mariupol! The "I'Mariupol" project and research by Anna Balazs.

Mariupol organisations that were displaced by the war have continued to work for their city even now. It is this resilience and strength of the community that is the subject of research by Anna Balazs, a postdoctoral researcher from Sweden who lived in Mariupol in 2017-2018, and who is now coming back to the topic of its cultural recovery.
In 2025-2026, as part of her project, Anna is conducting a series of interviews with Mariupol initiatives, including the team of the "I'Mariupol" project. The aim of the research is to:
- Understand how displaced organisations remain the voice of Mariupol
- Examine the needs of foundations and initiatives working for the city in exile
- Create a dialogue between Ukrainian and Western institutions
- Open new opportunities for international support
In 2026, a final seminar will be held at the University of Södertörn, where "I'Mariupol" will present its experience of working in exile - for the community, for the city, for the future.
We are grateful for the attention to our mission and believe that cooperation with international partners will further strengthen our work.
