Warmth for the front line! Mariupol residents to make 30,000 trench candles for our defenders
With the onset of cold weather, trench candles become a real lifesaver for the military – they can be used to warm hands, cook food, dry clothes or simply feel a bit of home warmth on the front line.
Last year, people of Mariupol made and delivered 25,000 candles to our soldiers. This year, we have set an even more ambitious goal – 30,000 "Victory Lights" for the defenders of Ukraine.
The wax for production was donated by our partners from Blagula Bilen – this year we have 8 cubic metres of wax, with another 2 cubic metres remaining from last year.

But to keep this project going, we need tin cans! You can bring them to the "I'Mariupol" centres in your city. Here are the requirements for tin cans:
-high sides
-clean, washed
-no paper labels or paint
-no sharp edges (so that our craftswomen do not injure themselves)
You can also join in the production of blanks at our centres. Every pair of hands is important!

Women from Mariupol who are currently making blanks in Kyiv say:
"Every candle we make is a piece of Mariupol. The light that once burned in our homes now warms our defenders on the front lines," says Maria.
"Our hands are no longer so young, but our hearts are warm. We put all our love and gratitude into these candles to bring a little warmth to those who keep the sky above us," adds Olena.
Each candle is a light of our gratitude, the warmth of our homes, and our faith in victory. Together we can do more!
