The government approved a pilot project to create municipal social housing rental fund.

This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during the Cabinet meeting on 2 July.

According to Denys Shmyhal, municipal housing will be provided primarily to veterans, relatives of fallen defenders, military personnel, IDPs, orphans, teachers, doctors and utility workers.
The Head of Government emphasised that rent will be determined using a special formula based on the socio-economic conditions of a particular region.

"The rate is much lower than the market rate and is therefore affordable for low-income families. Approximately, people will pay about 6,000 hryvnias per month to rent a one-room apartment," said the Prime Minister, adding that the project will be financed from local budgets, as well as from loans and grants from partners.
