A path to recovery: Mariupol veterans return to the Carpathians

This is not the first time that veterans and servicemen from Mariupol join the "Hero Compass" programme implemented by DTCare UA, and each time they return with renewed strength and impressions.

The programme consists of eight days of activities, adventures and psychological practices, it also provides further online support from specialists. This time, Gennadiy, a defender of Mariupol from Khmelnytskyi, went on a retreat to the Carpathians.

"I am glad that I had the opportunity to attend this retreat. The Carpathian air, new acquaintances, landscapes, hiking in the mountains, rafting down the river – all of this left a strong impression on me. Although it was chilly, I enjoyed everything, especially rafting, as I had never had such an experience before. We also had sessions with psychologists – they helped us relax and release tension through art therapy, other techniques and consultations. I would like to see more programmes for veterans and their families so that we can undergo rehabilitation and enjoy leisure activities together," shared Hennadiy.

At the "I'Mariupol" centres, we work every day to ensure that our defenders and their families not only receive assistance but also have opportunities for genuine recovery.

In particular, the "Veterans" project continues its work, where Veterans’ Assistants provide comprehensive support to the military, veterans and their families.
